چکیده

Multiple reports on the co-existence of autoimmune diseases and myasthenia gravis (MG) have raised considerable concern. Therefore, we reviewed in MG to explore their clinical presentations determine whether presence affects disease severity treatment strategies for MG. We all major immune-mediated coexisting conditions associated with PubMed, Embase Web Science were searched relevant studies from inception January 2023. There is a higher frequency concomitant patients than general population marked risk women. Most comorbidities are linked AChR-MG; however, there few MuSK-MG. Thyroid disorders, systemic lupus erythematosus, vitiligo most common system In addition, can coexist neurological diseases, such as neuromyelitis optica (NMO), inflammatory myopathy (IM), multiple sclerosis (MS), encephalitis (AE), NMO being common. Autoimmune appear develop more often early-onset (EOMG). MS coexists commonly EOMG, while IM LOMG. complicated by tends mild manifestations, coexistence does not influence course The typically severe. occur after or combined abnormality; therefore, timely thymectomy followed immunotherapy could be effective. thymoma-associated AChR an increased AE IM, whereas thymic hyperplasia. co-occurrence attributed similar immunological mechanisms different targets genetic factor predisposition. This review provides evidence association between several comorbid diseases.

O 29: Autoimmune Myasthenia Gravis Introduction, Immunopathogenesis and Classification

Autoimmune Myasthenia Gravis (MG) is a unique disease among all autoimmune disorders in two ways. First, there are a wide range of sub-specialties involved in the diagnosis and management of MG; secondly MG is an autoimmune disorder whose autoimmunity is well established. In this paper I will cover these topics: history and epidemiology of MG followed by a brief overview on physiology of neurom...

Experimental autoimmune myasthenia gravis.

Injection of animals with purified acetylcholine receptor in complete Freund's adjuvant causes development of antibodies which crossreact with receptors in muscle. The crossreacting antibodies impair neuromuscular transmission. Animals with experimental autoimmune myasthenia gravis (EAMG) are excellent models for studying the complex mechanisms by which the autoimmune response to receptor in my...

Autoimmune Thyroiditis and Myasthenia Gravis

Autoimmune diseases (AIDs) are the result of specific immune responses directed against structures of the self. In normal conditions, the molecules recognized as "self" are tolerated by immune system, but when the self-tolerance is lost, the immune system could react against molecules from the body, causing the loss of self-tolerance, and subsequently the onset of AID that differs for organ tar...

Clinical features of myasthenia gravis patients with autoimmune thyroid disease in Taiwan.

OBJECTIVES The aim of this study was to analyze the prevalence and clinical features of myasthenia gravis (MG) patients with and without autoimmune thyroid disease (ATD). MATERIALS AND METHODS Between 1999 and 2009, we reviewed a total of 1482 patients with MG. On the basis of thyroid evaluations, as well as neurological, clinical, and serological findings, the patients were divided into grou...

Complicating autoimmune diseases in myasthenia gravis: a review

Myasthenia gravis (MG) is a rare autoimmune disease of skeletal muscle endplates. MG subgroup is relevant for comorbidity, but usually not accounted for. MG patients have an increased risk for complicating autoimmune diseases, most commonly autoimmune thyroid disease, systemic lupus erythematosus and rheumatoid arthritis. In this review, we present concomitant autoimmune disorders associated wi...
